I have always been told that to love your job you have to love what you do! I have realized how true this statement really is. I love photography, anyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I always have a camera with me. It is either the big Canon or the smaller waterproof camera. I take pictures of everything that catches my eye! I love candid shots as they capture so much truth in the moment and can honestly make a memory real for generations.
When my dad was sick my heart was breaking, but I still always had my camera with me. I was heartbroken when he did not feel well enough to come to John Michael's first birthday party. I think that more than the party it was the fact that I knew this was the first of many he would not be at and a small part of me died. John Michael was not himself at his party, in fact his smash cake did not get touched. I decided to take it to my parent's house the next night to celebrate his birthday with my dad. I had my camera as always and John Michael was still not into that cake. My dad had walked out of the room to get his camera and when he came back in John Michael got icing on his finger and said here granddaddy. While this photograph is not edited it is perfect! This memory is forever captured and no matter how old John Michael gets he will not only hear the stories he will be able to relive this moment through the picture! My dad had already gone to be with Jesus when John Michael's second birthday was upon us. This makes this picture even more priceless.
This is what I will do with my photography, I will capture those moments in time and preserve them for generations. Whether it is a posed shot to capture a special time, or a candid shot from a birthday party or wedding generations will enjoy each photograph and the story that completes it.
