Josie's Princess Birthday

The outfit was on. The cake was ready. The tables were set. Even the trees were decorated to perfection. Josie is turning one and while the party was definitely fit for a princess, the theme should have been happiness and smiles because that was radiating from everywhere.

It is so hard to believe that Josie is a year old. She is such a sweet baby girl and to watch her grow up and be a part of her life means so much to me. She is a blessing not only to her mom and dad but to all of those who are lucky enough to know her.

Josie's outfit was absolutely adorable. It was definitely fit for a princess! Her cake was precious. Even the cake was colored to match the theme.

Josie enjoyed greeting all of her guests. She seemed to enjoy the other babies more than anything. Watching them communicate with each other was adorable. It was like "Look Who's Talking" the movie as they seemed to be sharing secrets that nobody else would understand.

When it was time to sit down with mom and dad to unwrap presents everyone was excited. Even Josie got into the unwrapping and seeing what goodies were underneath the wrapping paper and bows. It seemed that the bags with tissue paper were the most fun. The offered a chance to grab and toss as well as a place to climb in. To say that Josie got great gifts would be an understatement. She got things that she will enjoy for many years, many memories will be made with many of the toys, she got cute clothes, and fun toys. She should have a lot of fun for a long time with the goodies that were received.

It was time to enjoy the cake. This is my personal favorite part about any first birthday and it appeared to be Josie's too. She shared her cake with anyone who wanted a bite. She also seemed to really enjoy it. She was covered from head to toe. She also managed to get not only her table but the table next to her! It was great to see her and everyone there to celebrate her day enjoying this special time.

After the cake comes the bath. Josie was so tired when she was done with her cake, but I think her bath made her feel better. She seemed ready to go. Bath time is always fun and you could tell party or not Josie was going to enjoy her bath.

She had an outfit waiting for her that was suited only for a princess. It was adorable, and even though she would not wear the princess sash she looked like royalty in her pink.

A quick family photograph to capture her in her outfit, and the ending of a great birthday party!

Danny's 8

Well photographing my children is actually one of the hardest challenges, they are so used to seeing mom with the camera actually getting cooperation is a rarity. I do have a few specific times each year that I need a good smile. These are special times.

Danny turning 8 is one of those milestones that I needed to have captured. Although he wanted to wear what he picked out instead of what I wanted him to wear he did agree to a few shots. He knew that it was important to me, and it always will be. I am very thankful for his smiles, although I do prefer the candid shots of him throughout the day. These were the ones he actually let me take of him to mark the milestone.

Eight years ago I learned how it was possible to hold my heart in my hands. The day that I found out he was growing inside of me I was in love. The day that he was born, my heart grew by such amazing standards. I still have a hard time believing that he is really eight. I still see that sweet little baby curled up on my chest going to sleep. He is still a sweet boy, but he is definitely not enjoying curling up with momma and I cannot pick him up any more. I miss those days so much, but I know that it is part of growing up.

I cherish every minute with my boys, as I know that they will always love me they will not always need me, and this is a reality I see happening more and more each day. I remember when his boo-boos were healed by a magical mommy kiss. Now a band aid works better. It is the little things that let me know he is a young man now. Today and forever though he will always be my baby boy!
